Narrative Description of Project: The main objective of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment study was to identify significant environmental and social impacts associated with the proposed project and recommend appropriate mitigation measures for integration in all phases of the projects cycle

Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff: The project involved a total of eight (8) proposed distribution substations and their associated lines namely; Nairobi area (Bahati and Babadogo), Kisumu East in Kisumu area, Sibembe lines in Sibembe area, Kapsabet, Mweiga in Nyeri area, Maria in Meru area, Nakuru – Elburgon line and Nakuru – Nyahururu line. The work took into account all project intervention zones pertaining to the distribution component. All new substation sites and new line routes were visited. However for a detailed social and environmental assessment of pole-mounted transformer stations, sample existing stations in Nairobi and in Coastal Area were selected for purposes of the overall evaluation.
