Consultancy Services for Upgrading NEMA’s Incident Reporting and Response System

Narrative Description of Project: The main objective of the assignment is to develop an incident management system which would provide a roadmap towards preparedness, response and reporting and of environmental incidents. The system was to set out functions of various actors on how to handle environmental incidents and disasters.
Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff: We carried out the Mapping of the national institutional network for Routine and Rapid Emergency Network (RREN) and undertaking analysis to strengthen NEMA’s RERU and incident management system. The tasks in this assignment included assessment of vulnerability and capacities of all counties, analysis of best practices and lessons from similar systems elsewhere. The assignment was done to establish the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that are in line with the government’s efforts in disaster management and to build capacity of the RERU to respond to environmental incidents appropriately.
