Narrative Description of Project: The objective of the study was to assess the various factors that lead to the escalating cost of transporting sugarcane and recommend ways for plummeting it

Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff: The specific tasks that were carried out included;

  1. Reviewing of the current methods of cane transport in Kenyan sugar industry
  2. Reviewing and valuation of the cost elements of cane haulage
  3. Evaluating the rated capacity and design of existing haulage equipment and recommend appropriate haulage units
  4. Carrying out a detailed analysis of the cost of repair and maintenance of haulage equipment
  5. Assessment of the impact of trans-loading stations to the cost of cane transport
  6. Recommending a base haulage rate
  7. Assessment of the level of cane spillage and recommend ways to manage it
  8. Identification of any other factors affecting cane haulage rates
