Training of Coffee Factory Engineers and Production of Drawings

Name of Client: Chemonic’s Rwanda ADAR Project

Narrative Description of Project: The main objective of the study was to offer training of engineers and preparation of a full set of drawings and bill of quantities for a modern coffee pulpery based on the most modern Kenyan design

Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff: The assignment was carried out in two phases:

  1. The Introduction and Orientation phase comprised of an intensive two-week training program in Nairobi during which the trainees were exposed to all relevant theory with some practical applications
  2. Case study phase; the specific areas covered during the practical training under supervision from the consultant were feasibility studies, topographic surveys, factory designs, bills of quantities and the tendering process, construction works and installation of machinery and electrical installations, environmental protection and waste management; and commissioning.

The consultant provided overall guidance in order to ensure quality during practical hands-on training.
