A study to update the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, (ESIA) and develop an Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the 400 kV Mombasa – Nairobi Transmission Line

Narrative Description of Project: The services offered by Log Associates included: Updating the ESIA, Identifying the gaps in the ESIA Project Report and updating the study to a full ESIA, Preparation of the RAP whose purpose is to ensure that the losses incurred by affected people are redressed such that the project affected persons (PAPs) share project benefits, are assisted to develop their social and economic potential in order to improve or restore their incomes and leaving standards to pre project levels and are not worse off than they would have been without the project and preparation of the ESMP whose purpose is to define and reach an agreement with project sponsors.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff: We carried out Environmental and Social Impact assessment for the proposed project and prepared an EIA report compliant with the EMCA 1999. The other tasks in this project were to identify and qualify different categories of PAPs who would require some form of assistance, compensation, rehabilitation or relocation. We also carried out a detailed survey on the structures and amount of land to be affected by the propose project and prepared an inventory of losses and detailed Entitlement Matrix for compensation purposes.
