Narrative Description of Project: The overall purpose of the baseline survey was to determine the status and levels of access to Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) services by communities in Pala and Nyatike ADPs
Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff: The specific tasks performed by our staff included:
- Assessment of the level of community engagement in advocacy for maternal and child health service delivery
- Assessment of the capacities of community groups to engage in advocacy
iii. Undertaking mapping of the Community Units in the two districts
- Determining community perceptions of community health HWs work
- Assessment of the extent of allocations and accountability of devolved funds for MNCH
- Assessment of the capacity of Community Health systems for improved MNCH service
vii. Assessment of the capacity of Community Health systems to increase uptake of maternal (ANC, PNC and SBAs) and the under-five health services
viii. Assessment of the capacity of health service providers to facilitate quality MNCH service delivery
- Determining the level of functionality of the Health Referral systems (from community to health facility, to district levels)
- Determining the health and nutritional status of pregnant, lactating women and children under five years
- Assessment of the level of uptake of optimal maternal and child health and nutrition practices (focus on anthropometric measures linked to nutrition).
