Development of a National Disaster Risk Management Plan

Narrative Description of Project: The main objective of the assignment was to undertake a comprehensive study that clearly identified and spelt out needs, priorities, and objectives policy statements culminating in a National Disaster Risk Management Strategic Plan. The plan would be an instrument and framework for systematic engagement in disaster risk management

Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff: In undertaking this project, the consultant reviewed the impact of disasters on the economy, examined the global and regional context of disaster risk reduction in line with the Hyogo Framework for Action and the Africa DRR strategy, assessed the capacity disaster risk reduction capacities at the national and county level; and through collaborative action developed the overall goal and vision of the strategic plan. Based on the findings, the Consultant developed a National Disaster Risk Management Strategic Plan, drew a Program of Action-Logical Framework (with timelines and necessary resources required) that would guide the setting up or supporting the regional industries.
