Development of a Sustainability Strategy for the Regional Development Authorities (RDAs)

Narrative Description of Project: The main objective of study was to assess the RDAs’ capacity for resource mobilization and prepare a sustainability strategy for adoption by RDAs
Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff: The specific tasks carried out included;
- An in-depth literature review on the existing policies on financing of Regional Development and parastatals with specific reference to RDA’S consultative meetings with stakeholders to understand existing financing mechanisms in similar parastatals that could be replicated by RDA’S
- Review of best practices in financing regional development and the existing potential for integrating the various financing strategies for regional development
- Review of previous studies on the sustainability of the RDA’S
- Facilitation of a national workshop with the chairmen and Managing Directors of the RDA’S
- Preparation of a strategy paper on sustainability of the RDA’S focusing on long term strategies on RDA’S sustainability in line with the overall government policies, and short-term strategies specific to each RDA depending on their assets and unique characteristics.
